a WICKED surprise!

Sorry blogging hasn't been on the top of my to do list lately. I am a a little behind on the updates. Although, there really isn't too much to update you on these days.

This event I'm going to tell you about actually took place a few weekends ago. In fact I guess you can say this all started months ago. See way back at the beginning of the summer, Aaron came home one day and surprised me with tickets to the U.S. Open!!! I was so excited! We planned our trip to New York for September. We couldn't wait to go. We had two days of tennis tickets, but then we planned for all of our other favorite New York activities... Stocking up on candy from Dylan's Candy Bar, drinking frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity, playing bocce ball in Central Park and the list goes on. And one of those things on our list was to go see the play Wicked. I had been wanting to see it for years!

Well if you don't already know, I am sure you can guess how this trip actually turned out... or should I say didn't turn out. September rolled around and I was SICK! The last thing in the world that I wanted to do was get on a plane to New York. Aaron wasn't too excited about having to carry me around the city, which would probably have been the case. So as much as I dreamed of this fabulous New York vacation, we had to cancel it.

Although it turned out that the entire time we were supposed to be in New York, it rained and rained and rained! The tennis matches were postponed for days so we wouldn't have been able to see them anyway, and it would have been miserable trying to get around the city soaking wet. So we didn't have to feel too bad about missing out on the trip. I guess my being sick actually saved us.

Well anyway, I bet you are wondering what that long story had to do with anything. Well luckily we were able to experience one of our New York activities right here in Denver a few weeks back. Aaron decided to surprise me again with more tickets. For weeks Aaron sent me emails with trivia clues leading up to a surprise that he had for me. The clues were so random that I had no idea what the end surprise was going to be. From Snuffleopolus' first name (Aloysus) to music from 80's John Cusack movies to Garth Brooks alter-ego to the most common consonant in the english language (N): He had me guessing the entire time. But once I received my final clue, he helped me put them all together to unscramble the letters to the 726th most popular girl's name from 1951: Glinda. And to my surprise... we were going to see Wicked!

The show was fantastic! It was better than I had imagined... music, costumes, original story line...it was wonderful. I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to sit through the entire show. But Aaron had made sure to purchase tickets and the end of the row in case I needed to make a quick exit ;) But I felt great the entire time and we had so much fun!

I loved my WICKED surprise!
