A Name and a Blessing

Last Friday, June 11 we blessed Ethan. Aaron's sister, Katherine, was getting married on Saturday. Almost all of Aaron's family were in town for the event so we took advantage of the opportunity to bless Ethan while surrounded by so much of our family. It was a wonderful day. Ethan is so privileged to come into this world and automatically be loved by so many.

Ethan, you are loved by your parents!

You are loved by your grandmas!

You are loved by your cousins!

Ethan, you are one loved little boy!

Ethan wore the same blessing outfit that my brother wore 17 years ago.

Our Favorite!

Every Summer we look forward to one event more than any other. The Chalk Art Festival! It wasn't our first, nor our second, not even our third time going. This year was the fourth year in a row that Aaron and I have been.

I have to say though that this time I walked away a little disappointed.

It may have been due to the rain. Although it brought out two cool rainbows.

Or the fact that Gelazzi our favorite gelato place had closed down and moved to Houston. At least they had a little stand so we were still able to get a yummy treat.

Although as I look back at the photos we took I am not really sure why I was disappointed, because there were some pretty cool drawings.

Now of course the highlight of the night was sneaking into the Kids Corner, stealing chalk, and making our own creation. We have always done our hand prints. This year with the new addition to the family we traced the new hand (Well we pretended to trace his hand. Also Sorry your E is pink Ethan, it was the only chalk we could find.)

And now I will leave you with a photomontage of my son, because who wouldn't want to stare at him all day :)

All About Ethan

I just took a look at my couch. I think blue may need to become my new favorite color.

I know the last few posts have been Ethan-less (that's a word, right?). Let me make it up to you by introducing you to the all about Ethan blog. See I have this goal to keep a somewhat detailed log of each of my children's first year of life. I could do that on this blog, but for my own sanity and organizational purposes when it comes to making my blog books at the end of the year I have created him a separate blog. If you ever feel like a more detailed update on our guy, just head on over there. Don't worry this doesn't mean that you wont ever see him on here. This is a blog about our adventures and parenthood is definitely an adventure.

Goodbye Pregnancy, Hello Ethan!

We did it! He is finally here! I couldn't be more in love. Even though the last 10 months were hard, I would do it all again because I have never laid eyes on anything as beautiful as my little boy.

Everything with the surgery went well. It was a very relaxing day for me. I can't say the same for Aaron who actually had to watch the surgery. We went in to the hospital at 11 to get ready. By 1:30 I was in the operating room. Then at 1:49 Ethan was here. Aaron recorded the surgery on video. I have yet to watch it, and I am not sure if I will ever have the guts to do so.

Ethan did have to spend his first night in the ICU. He struggled to breath because of some excess fluid in his lungs. He is doing great now. We spent from Friday to Tuesday in the hospital. They kept me an extra day because I would get dizzy while walking around. With my history of passing out they were nervous to send me home. We are all home now and we are all doing great. Recovery has been a breeze. I count it as a blessing for the last 10 months I've endured.

Check out some of his first week...

In case you're now on Ethan overload, an Ethan blog is under construction. I'll give out the blog link soon. Thank you for all the support over the past 10 months. Ethan is finally here!
